Two RheasFrom the very early days Grant had lots of animals around him. When Grant became ill at the age of 5 years he had to spend lots of time in hospital but when he was a home he had the animals there for him. Grant missed quite a lot of school and only had few friends. As he got older more animals were added to his collection like Snakes, Lizards, Rabbits, Hamsters, Gerbils and Salt Water Tropical Fish.

When he was in hospital Grant would be focusing on getting better so he could add another animal to his collection, he knew as soon as he was out of the hospital he would have a new friend there for him.

They became part of his life.

From a young age Grant had been fascinated with monkeys and the one animal he wanted most was a monkey, so when Grant was 16 years he got his first pair of Marmoset monkeys and Grant gained his knowledge on how to care for them from Zoos www.twycrosszoo.com and Private keepers..

In 1991 Grant became a member of the International Primate Protection League in the UK and gained more experience, with work involving the unwanted and neglected primates in this country. He took on three Capuchin monkeys, which needed good homes and has now been taking unwanted monkeys in to his care for 15 years.

In the year 1993 after leaving college Grant wanted to help other unwanted neglected animals, so started to help Goat's, Sheep, Ducks and Chickens near his home in Coal Aston Sheffield.

In 1998 Grant's dream of having a small farm became reality and his family moved to Chesterfield near Hardwick Hall. With more land Grant was able to put his dream of running an animal sanctuary for many different sorts of animals.

Grant has taken many sorts of animals from wildlife parks and some zoos where they have needed a new home. Many animals come from people who just cannot keep them due to illness and separation in the family,or even worse neglect.

Grant has 5 monkeys in his care at present he also has Rheas, a member of the Ostrich family from South America, Sarus Cranes (very large birds), Ducks and Geese, Peacocks, Alpacas, Monkeys and a Kinkajou (a member of the Raccoon family).
